The Planning Process for Building a New House
We live in a world where we can get whatever we want when we want it. It’s just the way life is in modern Australia with everything at our fingertips. Shops are open 24/7, answers to everyday questions are in the palm of your hand and even getting your favourite takeaway delivered is super simple.
Well, you’re probably asking what these cultural observations have to do with a building company? Let me explain.
Most building companies don’t explain the ins and outs of the building planning process very well. You’ll be pretty much asked what you like, given a contract to sign and that’s it. Whilst this is a fast approach, it’s inadequate and you’ll be missing out on critical pieces of information that simply take time to explain, understand, organise and deliver.
Saxony Building will always inform you of the pros and cons of any new building project. We spend time with you and help decide what will best suit your needs, whether it be building a new home from scratch or creating a fresh, vibrant and livable outdoor entertaining area.
The building and construction industry is well-known for it’s red-tape, lengthy planning process and continuous hurdles to jump over. And rightly so. Building a new structure that you’ll be living in needs to be done right.
To give you a rough idea of the breakdown of time, it’s approximately 2/3’s consulting, designing, planning and approving, and 1/3 the actual construction of a project.
The Planning Process of Building Your New Home, Step by Step
We are committed to working with you every step of the way to ensure you will get the home or veranda of your dreams. To achieve this, there are some strategic planning steps which need to occur – and they all take time.
STEP 1 – You’ll meet with one of our staff to discuss the building project you have in mind. You’ll explain to us what you’re thinking, the ideas you have and the outcome you’re looking for. We also provide you with an overview of the planning process and explain how your dream can become a reality.
Step 2 – Next, we’ll compile the ideas we discussed with you, and put together initial costings for your project. The building contract that accompanies the costings will outline all the inclusions we’ve spoken about and ensure everything is crystal clear so you know exactly what you’re building.
Step 3 – Thirdly, we’ll organise all the relevant documentation to have the project assessed by council. This documentation will include all relevant plans and engineering, from both a planning and building rules perspective. We know that all sounds complex, that’s why we take care of it for you and keep you in the loop every step of the way.
Upon council approval being granted with full development approval, the building project can begin.
To get to this point, it can seem long and arduous. And to be honest, it is. You can start feeling stressed, overwhelmed and frustrated. And this is where Saxony Building come in. Unlike a huge multi-national building consortium with a swag of sneaky salespeople, we’re a personal, hands-on builder that cares deeply about the people we work with.
We put your heart and mind at ease and we take great care and control of this delicate stage of the project, so you’ll never need to worry. We will keep you updated on how the project is progressing.
Rest assured that all parts of the planning process need to be taken care of early so the building and construction process runs as smooth as possible. Remember, prior preparation prevents poor performance. Get the planning stage right, and the rest falls into place.
Building a house or veranda to create a beautiful space does take time. Planning ahead is the key.
